My Story:
Hello! I’m Tess, a Pre-Licensed Associate Professional Counselor and National Board-Certified Counselor. I’m so glad you’re here.
Life is hard and full of great challenges, and it’s normal to feel overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about the next step. Whether you’re navigating a new season of life—like college, relationships, or marriage—or seeking clarity in your values, faith, or purpose, my goal is to help you find lasting joy, freedom, and greater meaning.
I was drawn to counseling through my own experiences in therapy, beginning at a young age as I navigated OCD. The support and guidance I received as a child had a profound impact on my life, and it inspired me to help others in the same way I had been helped—walking alongside them through challenges with empathy, faith, and practical tools for growth.
How I Work:
I strive to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and truly understood, while also being guided toward meaningful growth. Therapy can be both a place to process your experiences and a place to gain practical tools that help you live a life aligned with your values, faith, and deepest priorities.
I view therapy as a collaborative process, and you are the expert on your own life. I am here to assist you in your healing and growth. I take a more direct approach while still providing a safe and empathetic environment. Together, we’ll identify patterns, develop practical skills, and explore your thoughts, emotions, and values in ways that support lasting growth and greater life meaning. I believe that as we learn to take our thoughts captive, we can begin to experience greater freedom and live more fully in alignment with who we are created to be.
My approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy, while also incorporating elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Logotherapy, Narrative Therapy, and psychodynamic perspectives to best support each client’s unique needs.
I have experience working with young adults in a college setting, and I am especially interested in supporting young women, couples (including premarital or newly married), and children as I grow in my practice. I am passionate about helping clients navigate anxiety, OCD, life transitions, relationships, eating disorders, addiction, spiritual growth, and finding greater meaning and purpose in their lives. Our work often focuses on clarifying what matters most, building practical coping skills, and aligning your life with your values and goals.
About Tess:
Outside of counseling, I enjoy practicing yoga, reading, cuddling with my pup, pouring into my church, and spending time outside soaking up the sunshine. Things that fill my cup include time with God, being near water, and spending quality time with my family. These moments of connection and reflection recharge me, and I bring that same presence and energy into my work with clients.
