Licensed Professional Counselor/Marriage + Family Therapist
I’m the therapist for people who say, “I don’t go to therapy.” We don’t always want to go to therapy because it can feel like hard work. But we all have emotions, and we either deal with them, or they deal with us. I’ve walked a mile in those shoes, and I believe the work was worth it.
My Story:
I’m the therapist for people who say, “I don’t go to therapy.” I have a unique perspective in that I was in the business world growing, running, and managing a successful business. While I saw great success in this role, I realized I wasn’t being the husband and father I felt called to be. I saw how the satisfaction of what our society deems as “success” is fleeting, especially when it causes priorities to become out of line and relationships to become casualties
There was so much I was carrying inside that I didn’t realize or acknowledge, and because I didn’t do the work to dig in, my “stuff” was spilling out all over the people along my path. It almost destroyed my life. When I saw how much my life changed through healing from all that was weighing me down, I knew I could also help others walk down the path towards emotional freedom.
If you keep having the same relationship or personal struggles over and over again, taking control of your emotional health can break old cycles and empower you to show up and turn towards the people in your life who matter most. Learning how to be free from the emotional junk that is keeping you from truly enjoying life is the goal; I’ve been there and I’m here to help you.
How I Work:
I believe counseling is a process that starts with meeting someone where they are and then working together to figure out where they would like to go.
I am passionate about normalizing therapy even for those who are initially reluctant to the idea. I focus on helping men confront life’s challenges with courage, confidence, and simplicity in addressing anxiety, depression, perfectionism, stress management, marriage and family conflict, and career and life transitions.
I enjoy coming alongside couples who feel stuck in the hard places of life by helping them connect and communicate so they can feel known and loved within relationship. Learning how to empathize helps us share someone else’s feelings or experiences by imagining what it would be like to be in that person’s situation, and it helps others feel known.
I’m certified in the PREPARE/ENRICH relationship assessment and am passionate about marriage and its purpose in sanctifying the couple and illustrating the relationship of Christ and the Church.
About Andy:
I’ve been married for 24 years and have two college aged daughters. My wife and I enjoy long walks in the evening and serving in family ministry. Beach and mountain trips, including pickleball and paddleball, keep our family connected. When I have a day off, I enjoy golf but will more likely be found mowing the grass while listening to a good podcast!
